A migraine is a neurological disorder that comes with moderate to severe headaches which are felt on one side of the head. A headache is a painful condition that occurs in different parts of the head. It is sometimes difficult to tell the difference because headache is one symptom of migraine, but it is important to note the difference for appropriate treatment and management.

Migraine and headache share something in common: mild to severe pain. However, there are salient differences in terms of triggers and symptoms.

  • Headache is primarily triggered by stress and secondarily by underlying health conditions while migraine has a range of triggers which include: stress, noise, anxiety, hormonal changes, hunger, loss of sleep, and alcohol binge.
  • Headache could last from 5 minutes to 4 hours while in some cases migraine could last for days or even longer. Migraine symptoms occur in two categories: with aura migraine symptoms which include lack of mental alertness, seeing flashing lights, and numbness in the face; and without aura migraine symptoms such as neck and shoulder pain, nausea, light and noise sensitivity, and muscle aches.

Both migraine and headache can be treated and managed respectively with OTC medications such as Forpain. Aside from them, Forpain can be taken for other conditions like backaches, toothaches, joint and muscle pains, period pains, fever and cold (flu), sore throat, and it can also reduce the fever.
